A lovely small Victorian star memorial locket crafted in 9ct yellow gold. This is an unusual locket with a gold star design at the top and bottom of the locket. It has glass panels to the front and back that contain hair and gold work. The following is engraved on the reverse:
‘In memory of R Soppin, Died 1st April, 1860’.

The locket measures 22mm across and has a drop of 32mm, including bail. It weighs 3.5g.The locket has been XRF tested as 9ct gold.

The glass panels are in quite good condition, although there is a deep scratch to the glass at the front (please see the photographs). We have not managed to remove the glass for fear of damaging the locket. The glass appears to be original to the piece. The locket is not deep enough to be used as a shaker locket.
