A Edwardian Silver Sovereign Case

A Edwardian Silver Sovereign Case
A wonderful Edwardian sterling silver sovereign case. This is a real statement piece, designed so that sovereigns could be safely and stylishly transported. it looks fabulous worn on a long chain on its own or as part of a neck stack.
There is a good circular stamped design on one side and which is continued on the reverse with a blank cartouche to the centre.
The sovereign case measures 31mm across, with a drop of 48mm including its bail. It weighs 22.2g. The case is hallmarked on the inside for sterling silver Birmingham, 1903 with the lion passant, with the maker’s mark of ‘A L D ’. It also has the lion passant and the date letter stamped next to the bail. The sovereign case closes securely with a satisfying click.
The case has a few minor bumps and scratches as one would expect from a piece of its age. Please look closely at the photographs as they form part of this description.
The other pieces of jewellery are not included but some items are available to buy separately.
