A wonderful Victorian sovereign case pendant crafted in 15ct gold. This is an excellent and unusual example of a single sovereign case. Sovereign cases were designed so that sovereigns could be safely and stylishly transported. This case is an elegant pendant. It looks like an antique locket with no hint of its actual function.

The sovereign case measures 28mm across the circle of the case and has a drop of 43mm from the top of the bail to the bottom of the case. It weighs 9.3g. The case is crafted in 15ct antique yellow gold. It is stamped ‘15C’ on the bail and has been XRF tested as 15ct.

The case opens to reveal a neat swing out holder with a pop out frame that can be used to secure a single sovereign. Please see the photographs. The sovereign case closes securely with a satisfying click.
