60" Victorian Variegated Long Guard Chain, 9ct

Rare and beautiful 60” Victorian long guard chain with variegated sections and dog clip in excellent condition. This fabulous chain is crafted in 9ct yellow gold and has alternate sections of snake/Brazilian links and rolo links along its length. As is common with chains of this type the long guard is continuous and doesn’t open. The dog clip can be used to attach a pendant or charms.

The chain has thirteen sections of rolo chain and twelve sections of snake chain. The chain sections match each other as they move away from the dog clip in location, giving the chain a very balanced and pleasing design.

This chain is a wonderful statement piece that can be worn in various ways - perhaps wrapped several times around the neck, or maybe longer with a fabulous pendant. It is a timeless and elegant addition to your jewellery wardrobe.

  • Links: Variegated links. Snake/Brazilian sections approx. 7mm wide; rolo links 4mm x 2mm x 1.5mm. The different lengths of chain are approx. 6cm long; the rolo length in the middle of the chain, on the opposite part from the dog clip, is a double length

  • Dog Clip: Antique, square edged design. Stamped ‘9C’, Approx. 21mm across

  • Condition: Very good antique condition with expected signs of wear; please refer to photographs
